I am a fifth year Ph.D student at the Center for Atmosphere Ocean Science (CAOS), which is housed within the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences (CIMS) in New York City.
My advisor is Shafer Smith.
My doctoral research involves a combination of upper ocean biology and small scale ocean dynamics, and in particular the interplay between the two in organizing planktonic communities in the world’s seas and oceans.
- Mechanisms that lead to biodiversity in planktonic ecosystems
- Distinguishing between biological and physical contributions to bloom variability, particularly the spring bloom in the North Atlantic
- Developing mobile apps
- Using microprocessors to automate tedious (but ultimately rewarding) craft projects
